You would think to keep happy healthy hens was an easy task – set and forget. Like all animal husbandry, you get better results from hardwork and learning as much as you can and applying what you have learnt.

With that in mind I have collected a number of Poultry Books and you can see what is in my library and what I have found useful click on the image.

Food

The food you feed your chooks can have a huge effect on their health.

Just giving them kitchen scraps and a bit of mixed grain, means you don’t know exactly what your birds are eating. Like fussy children they will pick out the things they like and leave those they don’t often these are the very things they do need to eat. For this reason feeding a pellet where everything is mixed together is a good option to get optimum nutrition for your birds.

I have ended up using Laucke Showbird as my go to food. Click on the picture to see all the Nutrients, specifically meant for those breeding poultry.
